Nectarines - Yellow
Nectarines have a deliciously sweet aroma and a juicy, delectable flesh. They are great eaten fresh, or when used in a salad, cheese platter or a compote. Nectarines are related to the rose, and come from the same species as the peach!
How do we make sure we provide top quality yellow nectarines?
When selecting ripe nectarines, we make sure the skin yields slightly to the touch (this is the best indicator of ripeness). We also make sure the skin is free from blemishes (a sign that they have been sun-exposed), wrinkles (a sign of over-maturity) and bruising (a sign that they have been over-handled). Finally we check the colour, signs of greenness indicate that the nectarine is immature, and will not ripen properly.
Where do we source our yellow nectarines from?
Nectarines are a temperate zone crop and require a warm dry summer and a winter chill. We try to source all of our nectarines from local growers around Bacchus Marsh. If supply is short, we source them from other Victorian growers around the Goulburn Valley region, or New South Wales growers around the Central Tablelands or Hunter Valley region.
What is the best way to keep yellow nectarines?
Nectarines store best in the fridge (optimal storage conditions are at 0°C and 90%-100% relative humidity). They ripen best at room temperature.

Nectarines are an excellent source of vitamin A and vitamin C. They also contain some vitamin B3, potassium and dietary fibre.
